Notice to Sabden dog walkers
10th of October, 2022
It’s that time again - when we are going to experience dark mornings and evenings and we ask all dog walkers to be extra vigilant picking up after their dog. Please either carry a torch or wear a head torch if you exercise your dog when it is dark.
Sabden Parish Council's aim is to have our village free of dog fouling and we can only achieve this if everyone plays their part.
If dog fouling becomes a problem near you, rather than post on Facebook, please contact the Parish Clerk on clerk@sabdenparish.org.uk who will arrange for a notice to be put up nearby.
If you see or are aware of a dog walker regularly allowing their dog(s) to foul in public areas and they don’t clean it up, you can send a Dog Fouling Report to the dog warden using the following website:
https://www.ribblevalley-gov.uk/dog-warden/dog-warden-1
The report will ask for a description of the dog(s), where the owner lives, date and time of offence and a photograph if that's possible. The dog warden has the power to fine individuals who do not pick up after their dog.
The Holme
As part of the Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Order, dogs are excluded from play and sports areas but in spite of a large ‘No Dogs Allowed’ notice in the middle of the children’s playground, we regularly see dogs both on and off the lead on the play area.
Sabden Parish Council realises that many families have dogs and to support this has put a post on the park for you to tie your dogs to whilst you take your children on the equipment.
As always, a huge thank you to the majority of dog walkers who regularly pick up after their dog, respect the fact that dogs should not be allowed on a play area and put their dog on a lead where asked. We can only keep Sabden free of dog fouling and a safe place for our children to play if everyone works with us to achieve this.
