School Holidays

21st of July, 2022

The school holidays are approaching and we hope that the weather remains good and everyone can enjoy their time off school.

May we just ask parents if they would kindly discuss the following with their children especially if they are going to be around the village unsupervised.

  1.  Recently children have been picking the butterburr along the bank of the Brook on the Lower Holme.  It is not advisable to pick these stems as they might cause a skin rash.
  2. Trees- sadly branches are regularly broken off trees around the village.  Please discuss with your children how important trees are for the environment.  The willows along the Brook on the Lower Holme have been planted especially to do the important job of securing the banking.
  3. The wildflower garden by Jubilee Bridge is looking beautiful but children and dogs have been trampling through this patch of wildflowers. May we remind you that dogs should be on leads on the Lower Holme- there are 4 notices displayed to this effect.
  4. Other garden areas around the village- please discourage children from picking blooms from these gardens and ask them to leave everything as it is.

A huge amount of time and effort is spent by the Parish Council and a group of residents to improve our village and keep it looking as good as possible and it is upsetting when mindless actions cause damage to work that has been carried out. Please talk to your children about having respect for the village and for everyone who works so hard to keep Sabden looking beautiful.

Have a happy summer holiday!
