BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION 2022

10th of May, 2022

First Judging Period 1st June – 17th July 2022

You may remember that last year Sabden was Highly Commended in the Champion Class and we are proud of our Outstanding Features which also did well. The aim of the competition is to show how communities show pride in where they live and how residents work together to make their village look as good as possible.

Once again we ask you all to keep your properties looking tidy and to clear weeds from the front of your houses and from the kerbs.  Please pick up litter if you can when you are walking around the village.

If you are prepared to give us a bit of extra time please contact susanclarke@btinternet.com. We especially need extra helpers on the Crowtrees estate and a lot more support on Padiham Road from St. Nicholas Avenue down to Bull Bridge.  The judges highlighted this stretch on Padiham  Road and marked us down because of weeds and litter.

We will be judged 4 times during the period 1st June – 17th July and if we are successful in getting through to the second round of judging we will be judged again between 5th – 14th August 2022. It is important that we maintain our high standards throughout the summer as weeds continue to grow and we need to return to them to keep the village weed free in the areas outlined above.

If you are planning to plant out tubs, planters or handing baskets this year, please support Sabden’s celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by planting in red, white and blue where possible.

Thank you as always to everyone who regularly help to keep Sabden looking so good.  Let’s show the judges that we are proud to live in our beautiful village and try to win the Champion Class in this Jubilee year.  Together we can do it!
