Notice to Sabden dog walkers

27th of October, 2020

For the next few months we are going to experience dark mornings and evenings and we would like to ask all dog walkers to be extra vigilant picking up after their dog.   Please either carry a torch or wear a head torch if you exercise your dog when it is dark.

Sabden Parish Council's aim is to have our village free of dog fouling and we can only achieve this if everyone plays their part.

If dog fouling becomes a problem near you, rather than post on Facebook, please contact the Parish Clerk on clerk@sabdenparish.org.uk who will arrange for a notice to be put up nearby.

If you are aware of a dog walker regularly allowing their dog to foul and you know where they live, please send details to the dog warden adele.geraghty@ribblevalley.gov.uk with description of the dog, where the owner lives, date and time of offence and a photograph if that's possible. The dog warden has the power to fine individuals who do not pick up after their dog.

The Holme

Thank you to everyone who is using the dog post to attach their dog when they are on the play equipment with children.  Unfortunately we are still seeing dogs - on and off the lead- on the children's play area in spite of there being a number of notices all round this areas stating No Dogs allowed on the play area.

The Lower Holme

Despite putting notices at each entrance to the Lower Holme requesting dogs to be kept on a lead and dogs to be kept off the grass, there are still a number of dog walkers who regularly refuse to put their dog on a lead in this area.

Most of you will appreciate that we ask for dogs to be controlled in these two areas so that they are clean and safe places for children, young people and any resident to use as a space for play and exercice.

We are lucky in Sabden to have access to so many walks where dogs can be exercised off their lead and we only ask for them to be on their leads for five minutes or so while you are walking around the Holme and Lower Holme.

As always, a huge thank you to the majority of dog walkers who regularly pick up after their dog, respect the fact that dogs should not be allowed on a play area and put their dog on a lead where asked.  We can only keep Sabden free of dog fouling and a safe place for our children to play if everyone works with us to achieve this.
