Tree Planting Project

24th of February, 2025

The Woodland Trust have provided our village with one hundred trees and thirty shrubs as part of an initiative to boost domestic trees with the aim to diversify and expand the tree supply in England.

Tree planning is perceived to be an environmentally friendly activity with the benefits including, cleaner air, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and soil erosion, provide habitation for wildlife and protect the ecosystem.

All the trees and shrubs supplied are native and examples include Silver Birch, Rowan, Dog Rose, Oak and Lyme. The location of the planting has been planned by the parish council in consultation by experts considering; location to residents, land ownership and final size of the plants/trees.

Can you help? - We are planning a community tree planting morning on Saturday 15th March at 10am – Meeting on Ribble Valley Car Park Padiham Road Sabden. (opposite White Hart pub)

The White Hart Pub have kindly offered free bacon sandwiches and coffee from around 12:00 noon for volunteers.

Volunteers do not need any experience just a garden spade and enthusiasm for a worthwhile village project. We will have experts with experience of tree planting to assist on the morning.

To help inform us of potential volunteers and if you are willing to help, please can you provide your name to clerk@sabdenparish.org.uk
